Sim not arriving to university

Hello everyone, I am playing The Sims 3 with mods such as NRaas, Overwatch, and Errortrap. Whenever I send my Sim to university, once loaded in, the game pops up a message that some objects were removed, and I am greeted with the Edit Town page with no Sim. If I try editing town, or exiting the game, it won't let me so I have to force shut the game by the task manager. The Sim I'm trying to send to university has an okay family tree, though I forced to remove his brother (who went missing, presumably stuck or lost during routing) the family tree still loads fine.  Before, I was able to send my other Sim to university without any problem. Any workarounds here?

Update: I have downloaded Traveler by Twallan, and my Sim was able to arrive at university. I was able to choose a lot for him to stay in, but the HUD disappeared and I have to force shut the game with task manager.

  • @bxbytrishx  Try adding NRaas MasterController if you don't have it already and running a town reset before your sim leaves.  Click on City Hall and select NRaas > MC > Town Options > Reset Everything.  This may take a few minutes to run, depending on the size of the world and the speed of your system.

It's still worth reducing the in-game graphics as well before traveling.  That can lower the demands on the game engine to a significant extent.  You can of course reimpose your usual settings afterwards, if the travel transition does in fact work.

If the University world has previously been loaded in this save, you could try removing the .nhd file for the world.  It's possible the current instance of the world is corrupt in some way; deleting the file would force the game to spawn a new one when your sim traveled.  The file will be in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves\[your save name.sims3], along with a number of other files containing save data.  (Don't delete those other files.)  It's easy enough to put the file back if this doesn't help.

If this doesn't help either, do you get any scripterrors in your Sims 3 user folder?  If so, it's worth taking them to the NRaas site and asking for advice.  A scripterror might describe a specific problem that you could address.

  • @bxbytrishx  I would have suggested adding Traveler as a first step, and I'm a bit surprised it didn't completely fix the issue.  But it's possible that the game engine is still too overloaded with the travel transition, so the next step is to reduce that load as much as is reasonable:

    • Empty your sims' inventories as much as possible.  A few items is fine; a hundred is not.
    • Use "save as" to rename the save, then quit (without saving) immediately before you want to travel.
    • Load the game just to the Main Menu.  Turn off memories, the in-game shopping experience, and the hidden object interactive loading screens.
    • Lower all the graphics settings to the minimum.  (You can revert to your normal settings after the travel transition.)  Now quit the game again, without loading a save.
    • Delete the five cache files in your game folder in Documents: CASPartCache, compositorCache, scriptCache, simCompositorCache, and socialCache.
    • Empty out everything in FeaturedItems as well.
    • If you play through Origin, sign in and then put Origin in offline mode, then disconnect your computer from the internet—turn off wifi and/or pull the ethernet cord.
    • Now launch your game, load the save, and travel your sims right away, as soon as the game clock starts moving forward.

It's also a good idea to "save as" to rename the save and quit to desktop as soon as your sim has arrived safely and is settled into his residence.  Delete the cache files again, and if you want, you can restore the graphics settings you used before.  Change them at the Main Menu and quit to desktop again before loading the save.

Hi, I deleted everything from my Sim's family inventory and his own inventory. Went in offline mode, and turned off memories. Whenever I install a mod I make sure I delete the cache files, I am able to travel my Sim to university but once I select a house for him to live in, the game doesn't load the UI.
