Sims 3 - 16 digit code needs to be 20 digits
I've already looked at other pages. I've not found a solution.
I've emailed Humble Bundle, where I got the code from. I got told to come here. I don't even know where to begin with contacting EA, even if I thought I'd get a response that wasn't the cookie cutter response of "We're working on it, promise, even though we should have given an update by now."
I am currently trying to initiate a live chat with an adviser. God help me.
I've tried going to the Sims site and redeeming the 16 digit code I've got there, they said it's already been used, quite rightly enough because it has been on Origin - An inherently broken piece of software.
When I go to install the Sims, it asks for a 20 digit code, Humble Bundle gave me a 16 digit code. Apparently, I was supposed to look in the Game Info or whatever for the 20 digit code. I looked, it's the same 16 digit code.
APPARENTLY this is because I've "unfortunately" redeemed this online and not through the client. Why this should matter I have no idea, however it is what it is and now I have no 20 digit code. I'd like to explain why I used the site redeemer and not the origin redeemer. This is because the Client abjectly refused to let me redeem it. I would go to redeem the code and after... An hour? Or so? The dialogue box that you would redeem the code on turns blank and unusable. Perhaps Ea should update their service, eh? I mean this has only been a problem since 2011.
I should also say that downloading the game was HORRIBLE as Origin seemed adamant that it would download 1% of the game and stop, forcing me to restart the client. I tried reinstalling too, didn't work. Super. Only took me about two days to download completely, only to be forced to wait for EA, which is like waiting for a turtle to cross the Atlantic. But I digress.
I'm out of options. I've tried literally everything I can think of. God help me I've even restarted my computer...
Please don't tell me to look on other forum posts, or take my post elsewhere. Please don't spin me around in circles, I just don't have the motivation anymore.
I'm a gamer that just wants to play a freakin' game. Just help me...
To update - I've gotten in contact with someone in the live chat, a one "Ashish S" who has given me a new, 20 digit key to The Sims 3, a 15% discount on my next purchase (within restrictions) and has instructed me to - once I have downloaded them, instigate another chat to get the keys to the other DLC's thgat were included (Late Night and High End Loft Stuff) - Currently, they don't have the ability to get keys to the Date Night DLC, however they instructed me to come to them later when they have that ability.
I can't ask for more than that.
I'm listing this as a solution as it is the best solution I've come across so far and I encourage others to do the same.
