Sims 3 64 bit - Mouse Clicks not recognized

Clean re-installed, OSX Monterey on 2015 iMac 27 inch with 48 GB DDR3 memory. 4GHz Quad Core I-7.

Anywhere in Sims once launched, mouse clicks require multiple clicks in quick succession to get a response from the interface. Happens with Magic Trackpad or Dell USB Mouse. No mods are installed, and as I pointed out, I completely deleted and re-installed it to ensure that it was not a bad download from Origin. My Sims 4 installation has zero issues with the mouse or trackpad, so hardware does not seem to be the issue.

Any ideas?

    @acfan-69-csup  Try disabling the Origin in-game overlay.  The option is under Application Settings > Origin in-game.

    If that doesn't help, restart your computer and make sure absolutely nothing is running except for Origin and Sims 3.  That includes any accessibility-related utilities you might have installed, and make sure they're not automatically running in the background.  Please test in both fullscreen and windowed modes and let me know how it goes.

    While the overlay was already off, you pointed me in the right direction! Just to be safe, I turned off all the options other than Origin self-auto-updating, which fixed the issue. A likely suspect could be the "load Origin on exit", as that would be monitoring the game.
