Sims 3 AI bugging out.

The problem:

I recently decided to start up a fresh game of The Sims 3. After creating my sims and moving into a household, I bought all the furniture I needed and did all the prep work. Then I noticed that my sims weren't doing anything. Despite "Sim Autonomy" being set to high free-will, my sims were not queueing up any actions or doing anything whatsoever. I fast forwarded time to see if that would help but after letting it go for five straight minutes my sims did not queue any actions or do anything on their own. I figured that they might just need to be reset, so I reset my sims. After they finished resetting they still did nothing. So I've got a family of sims standing in one spot taking no actions.

Steps taken to fix it:
-Resetting all sims
-Giving them a manual command to try and get the AI going. (The sims did respond to manual commands, however they continued to be unresponsive when left alone.)

-Recreating all sims

-Moving the sims to a different house/town

-Uninstalling all custom content

-Uninstalling and Reinstalling

  • Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps/td-p/714/

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

This will reset all your user files not just remove cc/mods. It's also different from uninstalling unless you already completely got rid of the folder before.
