camagatha Did you try moving or renaming the entire Sims 3 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts? If not, please do so now. This would remove, but not delete, your saves and other user data, all of which can be restored later.
If that doesn't help, please list the free and total storage available on your Mac, and let me know whether iCloud Drive is running and specifically syncing the Documents and Desktop folders. For the latter, open System Settings, click Apple ID, then iCloud Drive if it's checked off, and have a look.

hi, thanks for your message! I did rename the folder but I still have the same issue, stuck on the 2nd loading screen after choosing a city. In terms of space I do have 420GB of free space (out of 500) on my Mac so this shouldn't be a problem.
For the iCloud Drive part, the Desktop & Documents is checked off already, but the iCloud Drive part is still sync to my mac as I don't want to remove this part. Even with this part checked off it seems like the game is still stuck on the 2nd screen
