Hi guys,
I just ordered a new gaming laptop with Win 8 ... had a chat with someone from EA earlier today regarding this and he gave me this link, so I hope you find it useful...

- This worked for me ! /boggle I don't know why a MS Windows live account is needed to make Sims 3 run now, but after fighting with the game freezing on the splash screen for three days I'm just happy to find something that works. After installing the program, creating the account and logging in once, Sims has been about as smooth as it can get - I've even loaded back my CC and mods w/o issues.
Just for the record my new laptop specs are:
Core I7 , 8gb ram, Nvidia Gforce GTX 660M, Win 8 64
- all windows updates available installed
- Sims 3, all expansions and all but "Fast Lane & Diesel" stuff packs
- Using Nvidia driver 306.97 - 2nd newest avail on Nvidia's site, rolled back from ver 310.70 in an attempt to get the crashing to stop before finding the Windows Live fix, but I don't feel like testing my good luck and changing drivers again just yet.
Oh, and Sims is running .136 not .42 - for one reason or another, the game says "up to date" so again, I'm not pushing my luck.
Hopefully this helps someone else that's been pulling out their hair w Win 8 !
Cheers
