Sims 3 and Windows 8 - An Analysis

I got Windows 8! But, Will it be compatible with my computer? Unless, if I got to play on my other old computer! It's has so many stuff! :shock: Help me! :cry:

alfher1275 - TS3 on Win 8 seems to be hit or miss at the moment. The purpose of this thread is determine a standard as to how Win 8 will run TS3.

add: Why don't you install it on Win 8 and tell us how it went. ty

You my friend are a GENIUS!!!! Thank you! I am so annoyed with myself right now. I have temporarily disabled Bitdefender 2013 and surprise surprise, TS3 is working! All this time and it was my anti virus. I suggest people disable their anti-virus when they want to pay TS3 - it worked for me!

p.s. I will update you on how smoothly TS3 runs, it could be that it closes as soon as I get to building a house - which is all I wanted to do :P

@jessikarabbit: That is a game issue that has nothing to do with Windows 8. It's due to corrupt work outfits. Give them another one or change into their work outfit before they go to work.

I have encountered a few bugs and glitches since i got TS3 working but i am not sure if the cause is Windows 8.


1. My screen i very dark i need to adjust the Gama in the nvidia control panel, i have had this on Windows 7 as well and i am pretty sure it's a driver issue.


2. I have been having problems with my game crashing once i have loaded a house, although it happens rarely and so far i have not encountered it again.


I had some bad CC in my mods folder that i removed and it seems to have fixed the issue.

EDIT: No i just encountered it again when i moved a new family into a house, i am going to clear the cache if that wont work i will move all my CC and see if that helps.

EDIT 2: Yeah Clearing the cache seems to have fixed it.

But other then that it seems to run fine, i have even gone as far as to download and install over 5gb of CC :P and a few script mods.

If you install Win7 fisrt...then upgrade to win8...it allows the install of the base game and exp packs. But like I said in anther thread...I dont wanna upgrade...I want a fresh install of Win8.

On a clean install it wont allow the installation of certain devices either...(like my bluetooth wireless mouse/keyboard and my vodafone usb modem. It keeps asking for Net Framework 3 for all those items aswell :?

What I did was dual boot my machines because I am not ready to commit to Windows 8 just yet and I still like Windows 7. I don't know if this will work for you.

I can run the game from launch, load a world, even create an entire family. As soon as i go to load a lot to play with a family, it enters and zooms in, then crashes instantly. Every time. - Ive tried running on all the compatibility modes to no avail.

Try clearing your cache.


1. go to the folder C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

2. Delete the files CASPartCache.package, compositorCache.package, scriptCache.package, simCompositorCache.package and socialCache.package

Now try to start the game with the family that crashed, let us know if it works.

The game seems to play fine for me, in fact, it's better than I have ever had it. The issue is that my store content is not installing in game. I can download it just fine, it shows up in my EA folder with no problems, but once I hit install, close the launcher to restart it, nothing is in the installed tab. I have recently manually downloaded the super patcher again, so we will see if this works. Also switched to running as administrator. I'll keep updating to what works and what doesn't as the night goes on. Hopefully I can at least find a fix for this problem. :) I also want to add that I using Ad-Aware Pro, in which my firewalls allow EA and Origin downloads through. Gaming Mode is off too.

Update 1: Patcher fix did not work.

Update 2: Ran as admin, nothing. Trying again after clearing the cache.

Update 2: Cleared the cache, and it worked! Woohoo!!! Now to finish downloading everything else!
