sims 3 can't login

I’m sick and tired of being tossed around your website . I’m one of the best and most experienced tech professionals you’ll ever come across and I have always had the sims 3 and all the expansion and stuff packs and tons of other official downloads running PERFECTLY for years and years now , on PCs and now MacBook Pro s. and modded too; nraas? That’s not the problem . I can run the ea app , have downloaded all my owned stuff , and the game does launch ... but I can’t go online in the game , can’t get past the login screen so I have not played yet since last year . Terrible year just want to play my game . I had to change my password for the ea app ; would this mess up the in game login ? I have played this no matter how you people have changed it , from ea to origin and now the second version I have seen of the Mac ea app . Don’t mess me about , I am a 48 year old tech professional who runs some of the hugest mainframes and banks in the World . morganStanley. Bank of Hong Kong . GM. 3 Canadian banks, multinational corporations . Windows Linux whatever I can do it . Until apple sent me an infected refurbished guaranteed factory sealed mbp and... I digress . Just tell me the answer . How do I get back into my online account ? It’s hanging . If I have not been clear get back to me asap . Respect . I’m white hat but ... I know my way around and we are legion . Jennifer Bennett , [edit: email address removed]; started with [edit: email address removed]. legitimate long time customer .

    Hi there,

If you're having troubles with the login screen, we'll need the live support team to review your account details and see what's causing this- here on the forums we aren't able to access your specific account info to take a look.

Please reach out to live support from the site here for more assistance on this.

No way I can get into the game. I am used to getting locked out when they update or go to another platform. I have always been able to figure it out and get the huge game going on any machine, PC or Mac, but I don't have the time to keep going through the loops of finding the problem. I am [email address] with a new password that is easy... It's like the actual game system, launcher and first screen, expects me to be my old old persona. I have no problem logging in to any other bit of the **bleep** thing, like the EA app, the Sims.com site, but not the launcher... It won't log me in from the EA app and it will not accept my account details. Running the game not logged in gives me the base game when I have all the add-ons installed. I am fed up and feeling like I am missing something so I am asking for help, I have never ever done that before. On a MacBook Pro and a mini, too much to check the mini today it's been taken apart and out of my control for a while. Ack. Help?

  • @jenrhaine  I can think of a few possibilities.  One is that your EA password contains special characters, which Sims 3 doesn't handle correctly.  Another is that you didn't remove the data associated with your old password.  On a Mac, that would mean clearing all entries with sims3 in the name within Keychain Access, plus clearing Safari's data, plus deleting the [your email].bin file in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3.  Please do all three together if you haven't already.

Another possibility is a problem on the EA end, which you of course couldn't fix yourself.  I don't actually know enough about the issue to tell you what you'd need to ask for from customer support, but here's an example of someone else getting it sorted out:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/Sims-3-launcher-won-t-let-me-re-download-store-bought-content/m-p/13601174#M264970

If this doesn't help, please let me know, and I'll see if an EA community manager could clarify or at least tell you what to say when you contact support.

Aside from that, Sims 3 can be played without signing in.  I never do unless I'm testing something, and other than a few online-only features like Simport and badge tracking, the game is exactly the same without an active in-game login.
