Sims 3 CC isn’t showing up in game
@CraftyTaffySim Just checking, but have you tried deleting the cache files in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3? These files should be deleted any time you add or remove content from your game. For reference:
- CASPartCache.package
- compositorCache.package
- scriptCache.package
- simCompositorCache.package
- socialCache.package
If that doesn't or didn't help, please try installing the missing custom content in a clean user folder. If it doesn't work, you know the cc is broken and not worth troubleshooting; if it works, you can move the content to your existing folder.
Start by moving the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. Open the launcher to spawn a clean folder, then transfer one of the .Sims3Pack files for a missing cc item to Downloads inside the new folder. Install it through the launcher and load the game to see whether it shows up. If it does, you can install a few more items at a time, but please test periodically so you notice if anything's missing.
If everything installs correctly, you'll need to transfer the .dbc files in DCCache from your new Sims 3 folder to the old one. The important step is that you'll have to rename them so that the old and new files are numbered in sequence. For example, if your old folder has dcdb0 through dcdb4.dbc, the first file you move over needs to become dcdb5.dbc, the next one dcdb6, etc. For this process, you can completely ignore the .ebc files, which are bundled store content.
If your newly installed cc includes saved households or lots, saved sims, or installed worlds, you'll need to copy over the contents of Library, SavedSims, or InstalledWorlds, respectively. These files probably do not need to be renamed, but if you get a warning that a file by the same name already exists, delete the old one.
Once you're done, you can trash the new Sims 3 folder, put the old one back in Documents\Electronic Arts, delete the cache files again, and make sure everything shows up.
