Thanks for replying no idea what in game framerate is I think mines set to 144 as thats what my pc is capable for? should i lower it sims 3 lets you do 64 or 144 i think. i dont know what graphics card I have it says somewhere nvidia geforce rtx 3070 is that the graphics card lol im so sorry im so bad with computers i have attached the file you asked for
@ami888 First of all, your dxdiag shows a number of DirectX 9 crashes, so it's a good idea to reinstall DX9. You don't need to uninstall anything; just run the installer over the top. I described how to do it in another post:
Restart your computer after installing DX9 and before trying to play.
The in-game setting has no effect on the framerates you actually see. To check those, open the cheats console (crtl-shift-C) and enter "fps on" without quotes. A number will appear in the upper-right corner of the screen; "fps off" turns it off again. Let me know what kind of numbers you see.
If fps is above 144, you can try locking it down in the Nvidia Control Panel, although this doesn't always work for laptops. Still, it's best to try this first since it doesn't require you to download anything. Right-click on the desktop, select the Control Panel, then Manage 3D Settings > Program settings, choose ts3.exe (not ts3w.exe) from the list, scroll down to Max frame rate, set it to 144, and click Apply. Then test in-game.
If you're still seeing excessively high fps, try using RivaTuner Statistics Server to cap fps. You can download it here:

The download is at the bottom of the page; you can skip all the documenation. Install RTSS, open it, and you'll see something like this:
Click the Add button in the lower-left corner, choose TS3.exe (again, not TS3W.exe as in the screenshot), set the framerate limit (red box on the right) to 144, then choose whether you want RTSS to start with Windows (yellow box). It's a lightweight app, and if you only set it to limit fps in Sims 3, it should have zero practical effects when you're not playing. Otherwise, make sure you open it before launching Sims 3.
Restart your computer before trying to play, and check fps again.
thanks for all ur advice so far i appreciate it I just tried all of the above and the fps in flickering up to 144 and it is still closing down. it also seems to close when i go on the map sometimes but idk if its just coincidence i dont know why its not working ☹️

i have now tried to do it without fullscreen mode, i went on the map again and it closed

It's built on RivaTuner Statistics Server, but what it does is force vertical sync, which should help with the flickering.
If you get another crash, please move your entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content. Don't add anything to it yet; just start a new save in Sunset Valley and let me know whether the game still crashes.
If you still get a crash in a clean folder, please post a new dxdiag. If you don't get a crash in the clean folder (but you did get a crash in the old folder), the issue is some content in the old folder or possibly the world you were playing in, so let me know what world was and we can go from there.
Hi! Thanks I downloaded the new tool, shall i uninstall riva now? The fps seems to have gone lower now, i did what u said and so far no crash, i loaded a preamade family and ran the game for a bit went on the map a few times too so far no closing to desktop but Im not certain it wont as on my other save sometimes the game would ran for a while before closing or sometimes it would be straight away. I was playing in sunset valley as well before. Shall I delete the old famnily completey and start afresh im worried it will still crash this seems impossible to fix lol thanks again for ur help by the way
