Sims 3 crashing on ASUS TUF GAMING F15

Hi all.

I'm trying to play Sims 3 on Steam as it isn't working on Origin/EA and it installed just fine, but when I load the game, it crashes to desktop after about 3 minutes. I had a look on some old forums, and it said to go into my NVidia setting and adjust the FPS rate among other things and I have but to no avail. I have no technical knowledge to figure out what's going on here and I would really appreciate the help. Many thanks.

  • @ellastokesxox  When you say you've tried to adjust the in-game framerates but it hasn't worked, do you mean that capping fps hasn't helped, or that you can't actually cap it?  The way to test is by opening the cheats console (crtl-shift-C) and entering "fps on" without quotes.  A number will appear in the upper-right corner of the screen, and it should never go above the limit you've set.

If the fps cap isn't being honored, that's the first thing to fix.  Not only is high fps a likely cause of the crashes, capping it is good for the long-term health of your laptop.  So please let me know either way.

Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
