Sims 3 Game Crashes With or Without Mods on Windows 8.1 64bit

Hi,

I have read a lot of posts in this forum and the particular forums that are aimed at helping those whose game crashes. I have had no luck with any of the proposed actions, so I decided to post my exact situation.

I open the game through either the shortcut on my desktop or origin or the actual saved files and everything is normal. I click on my last saved game and can play for a fewe minutes before the game crashes with windows saying the game is not responding.

This is a laptop I just bought a few days ago. I loaded all of my expansion packs for sims3 onto the computer and started to play. The very first time I was able to get through create-a-sim and the game crashed shortly after the household (of only one sim) saved onto the main screen. The second time I was able to play as the sim for a little while (maybe 5 mins) before the game crashed again. The third time is the time mentioned above. I actually had this problem with my last laptop before but I thought it was the laptop that was causing the problem (its older) even though I had been playing sims3 on it for a few years now.

Here is my dxdiag info:

I have already tried running the game without mods (the first two times I played without them) and running in compatability mode, in windowed mode, at a lower resolution, with most of the graphics decreased.

Thanks,

Kristin

I just noticed you have an error in your internet explorer. I think there is some security issue with it. I know you can turn it off . I think I turned mine off but I cant remember where or how I did it  since I have been dealing with so many computer issues on windows 8 😕mileyhappy:

Maybe someone will chime in on the IE issue and can direct you further

I am not having problems with Windows 8 as far as playing And there are many people who are able to play on 8.1 too. It depends on the ram and video card. Like Crin stated to you your computer is below the minimum requirements to play this game and not a gaming computer. The sims 3 was not designed like sims one and 2. The sims 3 you need a gaming computer and it takes a lot of Ram to run the game. This is probably more of your issue than anything else. IE and their security is  probably not helping either. I turned mine off and I use firefox. If one were bying a new computer for the sims I would not get anything less than 8 GB ram but more ram is better.

You did not state where you bought your computer but if say it was walmart they do have a return policy on computers.  http://help.walmart.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9#Electronics

Walmart also has same computer I posted above only it has 8GB ram not 12/16 Ram like the one I posted above on the HP web. Walmart has the 8GB ram computer for $598 when HP for double the ram is only  $50 more on sale at $649. If you can afford it I would go for the more ram at $50 more.

This is the walmart link for $598 at 8GB ram

  • Hi there. I've been playing Sims3 for about a year. I recently got a new computer(HP Pavilion Desktop with Windows 8.1). This computer is brand new, not refurbished. I got it last week and I put the sims on and I played for a little bit, but then it crashed. I thought maybe it was a glitch so I got back on and it did it again. I have tried literally EVERYTHING and it still won't work. I've cleared cache files. I put all of my Sims 3 files into the DEP and nothing. I don't have any MODS. Can someone PLEASE HELP!!!
