sims 3 generations

OK, so on the sims 3 generations, after i waited 2 days to download pets, sims base game, and finnaly generations, I was really excited to start playing, so i go into a neighbor hood and the whole thing is in blackout, except for a few lots. Well I thought it might go away if I went into CAS, but it only got worse from there, the sims were taller than usual, but I just ignored it and made my family. well after i got out of it, the town was STILL black. I again ignored it and chose a lot for my new family, and as soon as it loaded up, I got a message saying the sims 3 has stopped working, i tried making the resolution higher, and that didn't work. Both the towns are black, I have also tried loading the game again multiple times. I had to get a new computer for Christmas beacause it wasn't working for different reasons on my older laptop, and I am honestly getting fed up, so if EA wants me to continue being a customer, I hope that I be assisted in this problem, because if I cannot, this will have been my last purchase from EA.
