Sims 3 Into the Future no Almanac of Time

I’ve been playing in Oasis Landing for a few days now. While scrolling through lessons I saw that I was suppossed to have an item in my inventory called Almanac of Time. But I can’t find it. I have already looked in my buy inventory and I have also switched active households.

I don’t know if it has anything to do with it but I also saw when I started playing again that I lost all of my relationships and don’t have any descandents , which I did when I first started playing in Oasis Landing. And for some reason Emit and some other time travelers turn into huge globs and when I go into CAS the fat and muscle slider are both turned up all the way. I’ve seen others with this problem on the internet but didn’t mind it because I could fix it through CAS.

Those aren’t huge problems to me but maybe it has something to do with why I don’t have this item.

In between playing I have downloaded some CC and NRaas mods like MC, storyprogression, traveler, overwatch, relativity, dresser, woohooer and errortrap. I’m pretty much sure all of those are the latest version.

  • @Rdarbily  There's no harm in trying to place the sims in a new save.  If it doesn't work, you've just lost a bit of time.  And there is a way to save the individual sims as blank templates if necessary, so you could start with this same household from scratch if nothing else works.

    The one key here is that you absolutely need to quit to desktop before loading the new save.  Switching from one save to another at the Main Menu is a surefire way to corrupt the new save: the game doesn't release all the data from the previously-loaded save and imposes some of it on the new one.

    I would strongly recommend continuing to use ErrorTrap, Overwatch, Mastercontroller, and Traveler, and probably Register as well.  None of them require you to do anything special; they'll just do their jobs in the background, except for MC, which won't do anything at all unless you use it to issue a command.

  • @Rdarbily  It sounds like this problem is a lot wider than just a missing Almanac of Time, which your sim should absolutely have.  Do you use other mods besides the ones from NRaas?  (As long as you downloaded them from the NRaas site, they're fully updated—the site doesn't host previous versions anymore.)  Even if you've removed other mods, please list any you used while playing this save.

    To be honest, I'm not sure whether this save is completely fixable.  That's not to say I won't try, only that this could (maybe, possibly) be the kind of corruption that even ErrorTrap and Overwatch can't fully remove.

    Yes I do have other mods but not from Nraas. I have the clean UI mod from Justmiha;

    BrntWaffles skies&sunshine mod;

    LazyDuchess AutoLightsOverhaul;

    Capricorn sims CAS room;

    More sims in club mod;

    No intro mod;

    ToddlersCanLearnToWalkAlone;

    ChildrenCanCarryToddlers;

    Varriety Attraction mod;

    Xantak scarier ghosts mod and

    YolkSims NPC Romance mod.

    Before using Nraas Traveler, Oasis Landing wouldn't load.

    @Rdarbily  More Sims in Clubs doesn't always work with travel transitions and should be removed.  ChildrenCanCarryToddlers may or may not be broken; I'm not sure which of the carrying toddlers-related mods do or don't work.  I don't know about some of the others too, so I'd suggest removing everything not from NRaas and running a MasterController town reset (NRaas > MC > Town Options > Reset Everything), then saving/quitting/reloading to see what problems remain.  You can use "save as" to rename the save so your original doesn't get overwritten.

    I followed all of your steps and went into my game. My wishes didn't get removed but I still didn't have the almanac of time. But I tried placing a random family in Sunset Valley to see if I could get it with them and I did! Also Emit looked normal which I hadn't seen before haha. So thank you very much for checking it out with me. But is there a way I can continue with my family in Oasis Landing now or do I have to do it over? Also can I check if my mods work properly with that random family I made or do I have to make a new family everytime I check?

    @Rdarbily  You can test your mods with the random household you made, provided it's in a different save.  But please keep in mind that some broken mods don't corrupt saves right away, in fact it's quite common for everything to work fine, on the surface at least, for a few sim-weeks.  That doesn't mean that testing is useless, only that you can't trust that the mods are fine just because you don't notice any problems.

    For your main household, you could try evicting them in Edit Town and placing them back.  They'd keep their careers and relationships but lose their promised wishes and opportunities.  I'd suggest you save, quit, delete the cache files, and reload after this, but you can use "save as" to rename the save again so you're not overwriting your current version.

    NRaas DebugEnabler has an option in the Sim menu (NRaas > DE > Options: Smartphone) called Debug_ShowTimeAlmanac which may help here.  But DE commands are largely untested, and some are known to break the save or crash the game, so save before you try it and test on a backup copy of your save in case things go wrong.

    By the way, did you ever try to edit Emit?  Doing so, or romancing him or really doing almost anything to him other than talking, can and will break a save.

    I have followed your steps but my Almanac of Time doesn’t return in that save. Also yes I did. Because his sim was glitching, he became huge. I took him into CAS and out down his fat and muscle sliders that were turned up all the way, but that must’ve been the problem.

    I now saved my household in Edit Town but could I maybe just make a new world with them in there because I know I can recieve the Almanac in a new game. And if I can’t I don’t mind too much because I haven’t been playing with that family for long.
