Sims 3 literally crashes my entire computer

what am I doing wrong here... 

So I'm trying to test if a bug is on my computer only or on my family computer right? so I load up the game. I'm on my phone waiting, and then...

the entire game crashes. and along with it, my computer.

I have NO mods on this PC. none. 

this happened twice.

I got it to work without crashing on me, thank Jesus, but does anyone know the source of this problem? the fact it crashed my computer without even giving me a blue screen of death is confusing and somewhat alarming. 

this only happened in the family PC. my personal PC has mods, and it works smoothly (aside from the bug I was testing) and hasn't crashed on me like this before. 

the family PC is pretty good, it runs heavy games smoothly so I know it's not just a bad PC.

I wanna squash out whatever made it crash before it causes serious damage to the PC.
