Sims 3 many cheats won't work (says unknown command) playing on Origin PC

I just re-downloaded my Sims 3 for PC to a new desktop computer and started playing (also added expansion packs Late Night and High-End Lot Stuff from my disc collection and bought Sunlit Tides neighborhood through Origin which I'm playing in). This is my first time using Origin to play the game. I am able to successfully use [testingcheatsenabled true] and cheat codes such as [motherlode] work and I can shift click on a location to transport and shift click on my sim to modify traits, however many other known cheats do NOT work, and I'm not sure why? I would like to be able to use [make happy] so my sim's needs are all full. Help! Am I doing something wrong, or is there a known work-around to this problem?

    @jdubs4452  I've never heard of using the cheat console to max a sim's needs; it's usually done through the mailbox.  Here's a full list of cheats you can use, and how to apply them:

    For other cheats, it's possible that you need to enter testingcheatsenabled true first, then apply the cheat you want, although this is only true of some cheats.
