@niceonefin I'll flag this and see if I can get an official response. In the meantime, please try adding Mass Effect or ME2 (the originals, not the Legendary Edition), which are about as old as Sims 3 and are handled by Steam in a very similar way. Let me know whether they work.
Yeah I added Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 to my library without problem.

@niceonefin It might be a while before there's any answer, given how many people take time off for the holidays. I unfortunately don't have any good suggestions to offer you, but one long shot would be to try adding Sims 3 while on a different computer, for example a friend's machine. It's certainly possible this is a problem on Steam's end, but if the issue is your computer instead, using someone else's could help. Once the game was in your library, you could download it on your own machine.
Another question is whether you've ever bought a copy of Sims 3 on any platform, or had EA Play through Origin and downloaded the game from there.

Have tried phone and many other computers but Steam is not showing that EA PLAY icon on the sims 3 store page so it might be Steam store page problem.
And about the Origin, I have had free EA PLAY month through Origin at some point but it doesn't matter on any other game so I really think that isn't the solution either. And I own some of the games like battlefields but have claimed them to my Steam account as well for easier access.
Thank you for your help this far and happy holidays!
