Sims 3 not working on MacBook Air

Whenever I press the play button in the sims 3 launcher, it goes to a screen that is all blue with the sims 3 plumbob symbol in the middle and just stays like that and never does anything and I have to force quit. Please help I have spent hundreds of dollars on a bunch of expansion packs and everything
