I have tried everything even all the suggestions and downloading things to try to fix it and it did nothing. I only can get the launcher but once I press play it does nothing. I just bought a gigabyt...

kotiathesimmer Does this computer have an Intel processor? If so, you probably have the issue covered in this master thread:

It was fixed for the EA App version of Sims 3 but not for Steam. Choose the workaround you want to try, and apply it to TS3W.exe, with the W.
If this doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag. Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
