Sims 3 on windows 8

My sims 3 works fine on windows 8 except for one thing: my settings won't save, even if I reset them every time I open the game. As soon as I close the settings, when I go back into them, their back ...

    1. Right-click on the icon
    2. Choose Properties
    3. Choose the tab Compatibility and set the mode to Windows 7 or XP

    (names could be slightly different, for me it's all in German)

Try the following

  • Close the game and launcher
  • Go to documents\electronicarts\thesims3 and find a file called options.ini or just options.
  • Move the file to the desktop 
  • Start the game
  • Set your options
  • Close the game
  • Start the game
  • See if they are messed up again

If they are, try running Sims in compatibility mode or as administrator.

I tried moving the options file to the desktop, and that didn't work. I also tried running it as an admin, but that didn't work either. I don't know how to run it in compatibility mode.
