@jaelyn_brummett The sims 3 base game installs different for the Steam version then the Origin version. For the Steam version you need the Steam (download) packs. Origin installers can't find the Steam base game installation. There may be a way to do it (I don't know how) but you will have to consult Steam customer service (forums). The software on the discs is dated. Windows and OS X no longer support the DRM of SecuROM. The disc version assumes the game has SecuROM and installs the game and DLC with SecuROM. I think there is a way to update the Steam version to version 1.69 (the patch that disables/removes SecuROM and SafeDisc) but I don't know what it is. There is no stand alone patch to do this as Origin does the patch automatically when your game is at version 1.67. When I took a data processing course (some time ago) I was taught KISS (keep it simple stupid) and I play the sims games with Origin. I do have Steam games also and I have no problems. As the sims games have a complicated structure I like not to introduce more issues. I remember there was some issues between EA and Valve when Valve wanted to include the sims franchise on Steam. Steam agreed to offer the games as EA produced them and this was not a problem until expansion packs came out. With games being pirated as soon as the game goes to market I don't see DRM going away any time soon. FYI - it was Sony who developed SecuROM and Bioshock was the first game to have SecuROM. I'm guessing a company was contracted to create SecuROM and never supported it as it never prevented piracy and was never updated to make it work as it should. BTW - SecuROM is considered a rootkit which makes it less desirable. Believe it or not this is the simple version. The issue of DRM is very complicated. I believe Valve's Steam policy is the offer DRM free software and seems to work. Origin is like Steam. I don't think EA would have changed Sims 3 if the operating systems stopped supporting SecuROM. Existing installations were allowed to work unless you added new DLC or did a reinstall. To get your game to work the way you want it to you will have to consult Steam CS or use the Steam codes activate the games in Origin and use Origin.

Ok. Thank you so much. How would I go to put in the codes? Would I need a previous code in order to do it, or could I somehow use a new one?

@jaelyn_brummett If your going to switch DRM from Steam to Origin, the codes that are in Steam can be used to activate the game in you Origin account. You will have to install the Origin base game version from your Origin account after using the activation code from your Steam account. User have posted the codes are there (somewhere) in Steam. Open Origin - click Origin in the upper left - click redeem code. I do not know where as the games I have in Steam are games that required Steam like Fallout 4 - I bought Fallout 4 from Amazon and had to activate the game in Steam.
