Sims 3 says it needs an update before i can install the rest of my games but its already udated

My sims 3 wont allow me to install any games on my laptop as it is saying that i need to update the sims 3 but when i go into it it says its already fully updated so im unable to update it. how can i...

this does not work. all this done was make my screen go black and now my laptop is just running slow. i still cant play my addon games
