Sims 3 will not launch on Mac os x 10.10.3

Hello,

So I have purchased, downloaded (multiple times), installed (multiple times) the Sims 3. The first install seemed to work okay. I installed and launched the game to see if it would work before I did anything else. The game launched, however I quit to install expansion packs ect.. I began downloading one of the expansion packs. While the expansion pack was downloading I updated the Sims 3 as recommended by a prompt in the games start up menu. After installing the update and prior to installing the expansion pack I attempted to launch the game. It did not launch at all. I had to force close the game and attempted to re launch. It once again did not launch. It would show a green box with the sims logo, but would not launch the game. I had to force quit the program to get rid of the logo. I installed both expansion packs and tried to run them after installation. I had the same problem. I uninstalled the game and all of the cached files and preferences via the library folder on my mac. I re downloaded the game itself and installed it. This time, however, i did not install the update. The game still failed to launch. I restarted the macbook and force closed the game over and over. I researched online but found no similar problems to my experience. I again uninstalled and reinstalled the game with no avail. If someone could please give me some advice that would be great. I just bought the macbook yesterday specifically for my wife to play the sims 3. I'm new to the world of macs and therefore have no clue if I'm doing something wrong. I appreciate any help.

I'm running an
