Sims 3 won't install, tries to install High-End Loft Stuff

I went through countless forums to avoid having to make my own support thing, tried a bunch of stuff and downloaded everything to no avail.

I do not have the sims 3 installed anymore, I uninstalled all my EA games long ago to save space for other stuff but I want to play the sims again. I tried the sims 4 and that worked, but the sims 3 won't. 

I reinstalled Origin from a mirror to see if it needed to uninstall itself again, reinstalled EA on its own a couple times, repaired the EA app a few times, all in between trying to redownload some c++ stuff and delete other files to see if maybe I was reading my available storage wrong.

A few things are weird though: 1. There is no default folder selected, but there usually was when I've reinstalled before. I tried to choose the same parent folder that sims 4 wanted to go into. (C:\Program Files\EA Games)

2. When I go to the install page it tells me I have 7 DLCs, but I technically have 8- it's not including High End Loft Stuff. All together I have: Generations, Pets, Late Night, University, Supernatural, World Adventures, Seasons, & High End Loft Stuff.

3. High End Loft Stuff is always the first to try and download, even though it doesn't show up in the original download list, and it always starts paused. When I try to unpause I get an error message, trying to X out of the High End Loft download just shows that every download after also has this error. Trying to unpause after the error does nothing, and the "OK" and "Retry" buttons don't do anything, they just take me back to the app?

All together I don't know what's going on. Sorry if this has already been answered, I've been at this for a solid day now and just want to play my game lol

    @duderave  Please create a new folder on the root level of your C drive, for example C:\Games, and try to install Sims 3 there.  Uncheck all the DLC for now; you can always download the packs later if the base game installs properly.  If simply choosing C:\Games (or whatever you name the folder) doesn't work, try C:\Games\The Sims 3.

    The issue with HELS may well be an account issue, but the EA people who might be able to answer questions about that aren't going to be around for a couple of days because of the holiday weekend in the U.S.  If the above doesn't work, let me know, and I'll flag your thread; just understand you might not get an answer right away.

    I am having basically the exact same issue as the OP. I tried both your solutions, but it didn't work for me and I think it's because no matter what I do, it won't download the base game. Even when I unselect all the expansion packs (I have 5) and tell it to only download the base game, it defaults to trying to download High End Loft Stuff and pauses or errors right away. 

    I did contact EA with all the details and am waiting to hear back

    I am having the same exact issue and I've tried fixing it in so many ways. I have Generations, High End Loft, Late Night, Supernatural, Ambitions, Into the future, Island Paradise, Pets, Seasons, Showtime, University Life and World adventures. It always tries to install High End Loft first but it doesn't show up on the add on list for me to uncheck it when trying to install

    @duderave I'm having same issue it also seems like the base game isn't showing up when I go to download even if I uncheck all the addons. It starts trying to download the high end loft pack and I can't even try to download just the base game.

    Yeah mine is doing the exact same, even when I make the new folders for the download spot. It also doesn't work when I try to download the Sims 3 with my game discs instead because it wants to download Origin to allow the Sims to download but that doesn't work because the EA App wants to be used instead. Any ideas how to get around this??

    Hello, I need some help installing Sims 3. So when I go to download Sims 3 it just simply won't install, I push download and then it says that the packs won't install so I do it without the packs and it says that a pack won't install even though I didn't push the option for packs, so I cancel the packs that I did not don't load and once I've canceled them all Sims 3 doesn't even pop up for a download option. (The High-End Stuff Lot shows up each time!)

    My windows on my laptop refused to update. So I finally had to reset the whole thing. I went through and reinstalled all of my games. Everything installed fine except The Sims 3. When I click download, it immediately tries to download high-end loft stuff. I feel like it's not trying to install the base game first. I have tried app recovery, ending the background service task, and different install locations. I should mention I have a separate internal drive for my games. I don't know what else to try. I am just looking for ideas on what to try next.

    I am having the sam exact issue as above. I just want to download the base game but it is trying to download high end loft for some reason.
