@v3nu5bb I've split your post into its own thread since your issue is different than the one covered in the other thread. (That's really just for custom content and content bought on the Sims 3 Store site.)
Please uninstall both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions from your computer. It's easy to uninstall 64-bit: just let Origin do the work. The process for 32-bit is more complicated:

While you're at it, do a clean uninstall and reinstall of Origin as well. It's probably not necessary, but doing this now is a little simpler because there are no Sims 3-related files to preserve.

Reinstall Origin, then download whichever version of Sims 3 you'd like to play. The 64-bit version is easier to get running, and it doesn't have the 2 GB RAM limit of the 32-bit version, but 32-bit doesn't have a number of bugs that 64-bit does. So it's your choice. If you do want to install 32-bit, please start with the base game only, no packs, and run the Super Patch (digital download version) afterwards:

In either case, let me know whether the game works. If it doesn't, please post the full specs of your Mac: everything under About This Mac except for the serial number.

hi there! thank you for the advice, i was able to launch and play the sims. although i tried downloading the expansion packs that come with the starter pack and after the launcher said unknown error again. i tried uninstalling the expansions and it didn’t make the error stop, so i’m going to have to clean uninstall and reinstall the base game again. i’ve attached my mac specs too if that helps. thank you 🙂

@v3nu5bb As it turns out, you can't run the 64-bit version (sorry, I should have checked before), but the 32-bit version should be easy to install. With the packs you own, the only issue is Late Night, and the workaround is to create an alias for it, as described here:

You should still run the Super Patch after installing the base game though.
