Sims won't save to bin.

When I make a sim I save it but I've noticed that  they won't show up in my bin, they do when I save them the first time, (first time as in when i create them and save them) but not when I go to create another sim and check bin,
and when I download  sims from the exchange they'll download on the launcher but not show up in game

sorry for bad English :/ And I know there's been a thread on this already but, it didn't work for me.

(also sorry if I didn't go into a lot of detail, I'm not good at explaining things.)

  • @xSotus  Have you confirmed that your missing sims aren't in your SavedSims folder and don't show up when you open Create-a-Sim?

If so, go into Documents\Electronic Arts and drag your entire Sims 3 game folder onto your desktop.  Launch the game, and a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Try making a few households in CAS.  There's no need to spend a lot of time on them; this is just for testing.  Quit the game and delete the five cache files in your new game folder.  For reference, they are:

    • CASPartCache.package
    • compositorCache.package
    • scriptCache.package
    • simCompositorCache.package
    • socialCache.package

Look inside Library—there should be one entry for each household you just created.  Then load the game again, go to Edit Town, and confirm that those households appear in the bin.  If they do, you can try installing one Exchange household:  Delete your cache files again, download the sims3pack and install it, check Library to make sure it's there (if it's not, check SavedSims), reload the game, and make sure the Exchange household is in the bin as well.

If all of this works, you can install more Exchange sims, but only add a few at a time, and keep checking to make sure they're in your game folder and in the in-game bin.  (Also delete the cache files each time you install more content.)  Again, any entry that lands in SavedSims instead of Library will appear in CAS rather than the bin.

Once you've installed all the Exchange content you want, you can move your saves and the rest of your Library files from your old game folder to the new one.  You can move your store content over as well.  It's bundled into .ebc files in DCCache, and if you own any premium content, you'll need to move your ccmerged.package from DCBackup as well.  For a more complete explanation of the user files in your game folder, here's Crinrict's guide:

  • @xSotus  There might be a problem with your game folder that's preventing your sims from saving.  But there's also a simpler explanation.  Sims saved directly in Create-a-Sim don't land in the bin—they only appear in CAS as saved sims.  (Pressing the check mark in CAS takes you to the household screen where you can adjust family relationships, and from there you go to Edit Town.  Clicking the folder icon in CAS saves the sim to CAS.)

Sims and households saved to the bin will each have an entry in Library in your TS3 game folder (the one in Documents\EA), but saved sims will have entries in your SavedSims folder.  You can check there to see if that's where any of your missing sims landed.  Some exchange sims are also saved this way, so you'd need to enter CAS to find them.

For the exchange sims, another possibility is that they use content that you don't have installed.  Normally, the game would replace missing items, but sometimes the sim(s) won't show up at all.  For example, if you download a household with a pet but you don't have Pets, that household won't appear anywhere in the game, even though it's installed.  The Exchange has a tab that lists the packs used to make a particular file, so you can check to make sure you own that content as well.

If none of this helps you, the next step would be to try a clean folder.  If you don't know how to make one or test your content, I can walk you through it.

P.S.  Your English is fine, so don't worry about it.

Could you walk me through it, please?
