Smooth edging turning itself off

Hi there!

I'm having an issue with my Sims 3 game where the smooth edging setting in graphics just keeps turning itself off each time I restart the game, making it look ugly. This is my first time playing on a new pc and I matched my graphics card so that device config says the below before starting the game.

=== Graphics device info ===

Number: 0

Name (driver): AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT

Name (database): AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT [Found: 1, Matched: 1]

Vendor: ATI

Chipset: Vendor: 1002, Device: 747e, Board: 475d1da2, Chipset: 00c8

Driver: atidx9loader32.dll, Version: 32.0.31019.2002, GUID: D7B71EE2-373E-11CF-C079-761E67C2ED35

Driver version: 2002

Monitor: \\.\DISPLAY1

Texture memory: 1024MB

Vertex program: 3.0

Pixel program: 3.0

Hardware TnL: 1

I have several NRAAS mods installed, as well as smooth patch + random sim fixes by Lazy Duchess, and nectar glass replacement by Icarus_allsorts. I also recently updated my graphics drivers as part of downloading the AMD control panel so I could limit the FPS to 60 to prevent game crashes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm unsure what to do next

  • Sunset_Gossip  Do you have any AMD Adrenalin control panel settings that are set to override the application settings?  What about a third-party app that supposedly optimizes your in-game settings?  The latter especially might be editing the game's settings for you; this has long been an issue with GeForce Experience, which you wouldn't have, but that shows it's possible and common.

If this isn't the issue, you can try editing Options.ini yourself.  The setting is edgesmoothing , and 1 is on and 0 is off.  Make sure to save the change.

The Smooth Patch wouldn't have anything to do with this, and I'm not sure why Random Fixes would, but you could remove the latter just as a test.
