Steam Issue: Missing File Privileges

I downloaded The Sims 3 via Steam. First it went well then after I verified the game integrity I could no longer open the game when I try to redownload the missing file the game says Missing File Privileges. It happened before so what I did is I uninstalled the entire game and redo everything again - I can't do it anymore I need help.

I'm using Windows 10 pc. I see decided to uninstall Steam and now I can reinstall it since the folders of Steam can't be deleted.

@thethorlanes You will have to contact Steam support or Steam forums about how to reinstall the Steam client. Have you tried a registry cleaner like ccleaner (google it - there is a free version). I not clear on what your trying to do. If your trying to install on Steam you need to contact Steam. I only use Steam when Steam is a requirement for the software I'm using and have had few problems with Steam or Origin.

I tried everything but per my checking with other topics online it seems that Into the Future is the culprit. I decided to delete the entire local folder of the game and uninstall Steam and start fresh all over again. Steam is the main problem here as I can reinstall it due to some folders being retained in my local storage. Already filed support ticket to them. It just frustating.

  • I managed to figure it out myself. I think the problem happened from upgrading to Windows 10, which did some odd permissions things with that drive. I followed the steps on this page, and now Steam can install to that drive again: [Third party link removed - Admin.]
