Steam will open Sims 3 Launcher, but the launcher does not actually work

I bought the Sims 3 on Steam foolishly thinking it would be more reliable than having to use the EA app. Unfortunately, trying to play the game via Steam does not work. I can click on play form my library, but this will only open the Sims 3 Launcher. If I press play on the launcher, the launcher disappears and absolutely nothing happens. The game does not start actually running. However, the Steam app will show that the game is running and have the option to exit game regardless. Because I made the purchase via Steam but the game itself belongs to EA I cannot reach out to Steam support as they will not offer help.

Where do I go from here? Who do I contact and how because I cannot see a way to get in contact with an actual human being on this. All the fixes suggested on the internet and in forums I have tried and they have failed.

  • MarianneChadwick  Did you try the workarounds for the Alder Lake issue?  If not, or you're not sure you got all of them, please see the accepted solution of this thread:

    Sims 3 won't open: Alder Lake (Intel 12th-gen) CPU | EA Forums - 8265525

If that doesn't help, or you don't have a newer Intel processor, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
