Still getting the "No game disc found" message when trying to play The Sims 3

I recently lost my Sims 3 disc when I moved, so I downloaded the origin app for my Mac. Everything looked like it would work fine, my game instantly showed up and did not need to be installed because I had already registered it. When I click "Play" it opens up The Sims 3 screen on my laptop like it always would when I inserted the disc before, but when I hit the play button it still pops up the "No game disc found! Please insert The Sims 3 game disc before proceeding."

I thought this was the whole reason I downloaded Origin..

If by that you mean "You are correct, Origin can do that. You just have to uninstall the disc version of The Sims 3 and reinstall it on Origin" then you are correct. If not, you're incorrect.

It doesn't make any difference how you obtained your game.  If you have a problem with it, your question belongs in the dedicated Sims forum.

This forum is the gamer to gamer discussion forum in which only the system, Origins, in and of itself, is on topic.

The reason I downloaded Origin is to fix the "no disc" problem, Origin didn't fix it. Sounds like an Origin problem to me.

No, you didn't.  It cannot do any such thing in and of itself.  The game's digital download, not Origin, that is the only thing that will remove the requirement, and *IT* happens to be the GAME.

this is not a solution. players do in fact report problems with this "no disc found error" when only downloading and installing from origin and having no disc version installed at all.
