The Sims 3 - ALL the Issues After Being Forced to Transition to EA App :/

I just made the transition from Origin for the first time yesterday (so I should have the latest version - its showing as 12.144.1-5400), and I'm experiencing just about every issue that I've seen associated with this since then.  When I go into the launcher, random store content shows up as uninstalled in the downloads section (when I'm positive that it was installed before), and when I go to reinstall, it will seemingly start to do so before the pop up screen simply disappears, less than a quarter through.  The list remains unchanged.  This goes for lots, worlds, and various sets, individual pieces, etc.

I've purchased all of the store worlds other than for Barnacle Bay, and in the EA App, under Add On's, some of them do show up, although Hidden Springs is not showing as owned, when I do in fact own it (or did).  Still, since worlds like Aurora Springs don't show up at all, this could have something to do with how they were purchased?  (I remember the earlier ones having codes and I don't think the later ones did).

Though, I've bought all my worlds through the store, rather than as a disc, so I'm not sure why Hidden Springs wouldn't register as the others did.  (I wanna say.... this was the third released?  Somewhere thereabout?  So I think it may have had a code.  But again... I purchased it the same way I did the others that would have had the same).

When I go into the store it does show that I own this world, but I have the same issue when I attempt to reinstall it from there (seemingly starting to do so, and then the pop up simply disappearing).

Most concerning, when I go to start the game, it crashes before I have an option to choose my save.  When I move the Sims 3 folder to my desktop, it does create a new folder and allow me to choose a world in which to play (so there doesn't appear to be an issue with my PC or the game itself), but Every store world requires purchase, including those that the app says that I own.

Is this an issue with the new folder itself being blank?  Even if I'm logged in?  What exactly do I need to transfer over file wise?  And in what order would you recommend that I do so?  (Seems easier to add back for troubleshooting purposes than remove).

I don't even know where to start with this, and I'm afraid to make it even buggier.  I've spent thousands of dollars on this game, and have copious amounts of store content.  I've been playing the same save for 5+ years now.

How do I save my save?  And my content?  Easiest potential troubleshooting fixes first, please?  As I simply do not have the time to redownload Everything.  Especially if I still can't get to my old save after doing so.  I have no desire to start a new game.  Without that save, this is just a ten year old game that I don't have the desire to play any longer.  (And I don't really have the desire to play Sims 4 anymore either, as my save there is a direct crossover to 3, and only interesting to me as such.  All of my upcoming planned purchases are story related).

Do those potential fixes exist?  Or do I have to put in hours redownloading everything in some specific way that I'm not doing and then cross my fingers that my save (and my only reason for playing this game) will work?

Your help is appreciated!

  • @sandimh84  Store content does need to be redownloaded and reinstalled, unfortunately.  This is a limitation of the App and how it works with Sims 3.  I wouldn't worry about the EA App not knowing what you do and don't own; what matters is the Store site itself.

If and when you have time to reinstall your Store content, do so in a clean user folder, then make sure the content all works.  It's best to install the files a few at a time, and worlds on their own—the launcher doesn't handle large amounts of data very well.

Once your Store content is installed and loading, you can move over your save and hopefully pick up where you left off.  Let me know if the save itself doesn't load, or a new save doesn't load, or you get any kind of crashing.
