The Sims 3-Horrible Graphics.

I really don't get what's going on with my game. On my old laptop (a gateway even) the graphics were amazing. But ever since I got my new laptop (an acer) and downloaded everything the graphics are awful and blurry! I turned all the settings as high as they go and updated my graphics card. Even the sims 4 looked great on this laptop so I don't understand why 3 wouldn't? Help???

  • @HannahBanana072  Unfortunately, I'm not sure you can improve how TS3 runs on this computer very much.  One obvious problem is that the game isn't properly recognizing your graphics card—that would be the [Found: 0, Matched: 1] part of your devicefconfig.  As a result, the game has given your graphics card (GPU) the lowest possible rating and is likely dialing back your graphics in spite of your settings.  Getting your card formally recognized might help somewhat.  But an Intel 620 is integrated and not nearly powerful enough to carry TS3 and all of its packs.  The base game and one or two early EPs might be fine, especially on low settings, but Pets, Seasons, IP, and ITF would likely be out of the question.  Even some of the more moderate EPs might put too much stress on this card.

Additionally, you have only 4 GB RAM total, which is not nearly enough to run TS3 and all or most of its packs.  The minimum installed memory for the whole game is 6 GB, with 8 being recommended.  Windows 10 will take around 1.5 GB memory just on startup, and the remaining 2.5 GB isn't enough to play the whole game for very long.  Your processor is on the weaker side as well, as it's an i3 and U-series, which stands for ultra-low power.  But your graphics card and RAM are the bigger issues.

I'm really sorry to say this, but I don't think there's a way for you to play on this computer, at least not with the graphics you want.  If you have another computer to play on, that might be a better option.  Otherwise, you'll really need to limit this computer to a couple of early expansion packs, maybe some stuff packs, and low graphics settings.  That's about as much as you can ask of your hardware.

  • @HannahBanana072  Can you provide more information on your new computer?  Processor, graphics card, RAM, etc.  Acer makes a wide range of laptops, and often even the model name isn't enough to figure out what kind of hardware it has.  If you don't know how to find this information, you can run a dxdiag and attach it to a post here by hitting the "browse" button.  In fact, a dxdiag would also reveal other potential issues, like outdated drivers or a lack of free storage.

Additionally, it would be good to see the first 40 or so lines of your deviceconfig inside your TS3 game folder.  (You can stop when you hit the list of game options.)  This will show whether the game is recognizing and properly rating your hardware, and whether it's using the correct graphics card if you have a dual card setup.  You can just copy and paste the first part of your deviceconfig, as it will be short enough to fit into a reply.
