The Sims 3 Screen Size

I have recently installed The Sims 3 on my Acer Aspire One Notebook and obviously the screen is smaller than normal laptops. So when I go on the sims, I can play it  but some parts are cut out of vision. When I try to adjust the screen settings in Options on the sims, I can't click OK, because the OK button is cut out of the screen, any suggestions how I could adjust it?

You can try to switch to windowed mode through a cheat. Once you are in windowed mode you should be able to move the game window and change the size by moving the edges around.

You open the cheat console with shift+control+c - after that a line will appear at the top of your game:

Type "fullscreen off" into that line and hit the enter button.

did you type in  "fullscreen off" with the " or without the "  try fullscreen off

you can try manually adjust the screen size in the options file  in the electronics arts/thesims3 options if your in game at the moment then  if you hit F5 while in game you be able to bring up the options menu

to do this manually close the game then go to the electronics arts/thesims 3 there is a file named options(.ini) open that search for the resolution  that is in that file then find where it says resolution , resolution for example my  resolution = 1280 1024 0   where it says resolution type in your screen resolution  make sure to have the spaces too in between the letters then close the document it will ask you if you want to save the changes say yes (for good measure restart the computer ) launch your game and see how it is )  the refresh rate at default is fine so that would be 0

so for example if your screen resolution is 980 860  0 beside the  resolution =  you type in the numbers  resolution =  980 860  0

if your in game  you may have to ctrl+alt+del to bring up task manager to end your game before changing the file

  • This doesn't work, it just puts the tiny/distant play in a frame. I need it to get bigger which the options ratios don't affect either.

@legendshonor  Unfortunately, there's no way to resize the UI independently; even the modders haven't had any success.  It should be possible to resize the game window in windowed mode, but if you're not getting the results you're looking for, you can try playing with the in-game resolution.  The lower the screen resolution, the larger the user interface will be.  You could also look into using Windowed Borderless gaming.
