The Sims 3 store content doesn't show up in game[Mac]

Hi!

Store bought content downloads and installs without problem, but is nowhere to be found in the game. When checking the "downloads" while in The Sims 3, it shows "installed in purchase mode."

I've tried all the solutions found through Googling this problem:

Removing all files in the DCCache and DCBackup, redownloading from the The Sims 3 store website, always doing it from the launcher, never in the game. Checking and unchecking the "running without creations" box and running and quitting the game in between. Deleting and reinstalling store content again...Moving the whole "The Sims 3" folder to desktop, relaunching the game, then downloading and installing store content again, running the game again from scratch, still nothing.

What I find very disappointing is that downloading/installing and playing with stuff from the Exchange has never been a problem, but official store bought content will not work the way it's been paid to do. Why is this?

Store bought content is premium: "stiff as a board, light as a feather" and "lord vladimir's magical cauldron"

I'd love to buy more stuff, but won't risk it if none of it will work.

Game has been patched to 1.67.2.024002

Running it on Macbook Pro8,1 : Mac OS X 10.6.8

  Processor: 2.3GHz Intel Core i5

  Memory: 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Anybody who has any more ideas? Because all those solutions that seem to be working its magic for everyone aren't doing anything in my game!

Thanks in advance!

Julie

Have you deleted just the missingdeps.idx file from the DCCache folder? I've also written an in depth guide on how to install Store content successfully. It may help a bit although it seems like you've tried everything.

This used to be a common problem a couple of years ago due to the massive amount of Store content some users (myself included) have in their games. It's usually down to the Launcher not being able to cope. But it seems to have settled down a bit, especially with the last few patches EA released.

Does any Store content show up?

    Hi Bluebellflora

Thanks for taking the effort to answer! I checked out your guide and have always done it the way you've described in there. So unfortunately something else must be going wrong somewhere...

I deleted everything in the DCCache and DCBackup folder every time before trying to reinstall, not just the missingdeps.idx.

I only recently bought those two Store items, because I wanted some new Premium material in the game. As I never got it to show up in the game, I'm not buying anything else until I find a way to fix it.

But I used to have loads of hair and outfits downloaded from the Exchange, which showed up in the game without a problem. (I did often have hair/outfits in CAS with a Store bought icon. I just never gave it much thought, they always seemed to be there after a patch of the store...)

After the issue with the Store bought items though, I deleted them all to try "clear the decks" and see if it would make a difference. It didn't.  And now when I reinstall that, it won't show up anymore either! So I'm kind of kicking myself for trying that out =)

I've read about it being a problem with the Launcher, but there everything seems to run smoothly. You wouldn't think there'd be a problem until you get in the game.

Either way, thanks already! If you think of something else I can try, don't hesitate to let me know ;o)

Sometimes just deleting the missingdeps.idx and leaving all the other files in the DCCache folder works.

If you've got loads of stuff from the Exchange it may be the cause of the issue. Did you try a clean game by moving out the whole Sims 4 folder from Documents > Electronic Arts? Definitely worth a go. Load your game like it's brand new then quit and redownload you store stuff so you have a brand new game with only EA content 🙂

Hmmm. Do you have the patience to download and install the super patch? It may fix any erroneous errors:

    http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/549552/official-ea-download-links-for-the-sims-3-cumulative-manual-update#latest

Make sure you have Gatekeeper set to allow apps downloaded from anywhere as it won't recognise the super patch download otherwise. System Preferences > Security & Privacy.

If that doesn't work then I would properly uninstall and reinstall but you must make sure to get rid of all residual files the uninstaller fails to remove.

    Hey!

Thanks for the superpatch tip, never heard of it before. Though it failed to make CC or store content appear as well.

Next step is un- and reinstall!

Finally got round to the complete un- and reinstall. And it did it!! =) Everything shows up where it's supposed to be! A time consuming mission, but maybe the best option to go to immediately instead of first trying everything else, as it's the only thing that seems to really work.

    Thank you for your time!!
