The Sims 3 University Life won't install on Mac

I bought a MacBook Pro MD101 and installed The Sims 3, and The Sims 3 World Adventures (I also have Generations, Pets, and Late Night) and I've been trying to install University Life since yesterday without any results. It stucks at "Installing file 3 out of 68 *loading bar* Changing Permissions, please wait ..." The only difference on the system requirements of University Life is the the note about the CPU 'Game will not run on a PowerPC Macintosh' , and my Mac's Hard Dive is Macintosh HD. Other than that, I can't find any other reasons it won't install. So please, I'd appreciate a little help. Thank you.

    Hi

Are you downloading the games from Origin? It's possible that your Uni Life download is corrupt/partial - it happens sometimes with Origin.

If you already have Origin on your Mac but are having problems with downloading or installing games, delete the client and download a new copy (this sometimes fixes issues with downloading). The latest version can be downloaded from here: http://www.dm.origin.com/mac/download

Additional advice on how to download games (thank you Tremayne for this tip):
When downloading from Origin, do NOT use the first install icon. Move your cursor over the game cover and click on the information (letter i) and then click on the install button from there. For some reason, downloads from Origin frequently become corrupted. Using the i reduces the chance of your download being corrupted. If you have already been unfortunate and have a corrupted download, then it is important to remove all traces of this before trying again, by doing a thorough, clean uninstallation first.

Are you running anti-virus software or any clean-up applications? If so, disable these, as they might be deleting files that Origin needs. A fast, stable internet connection will also help you.

If your installation is stuck on file xxx out of xxx, you may also wish to read this EA help page: https://help.ea.com/article/sims-3-on-mac-installation-stuck-at-32-or-34-files-troubleshooting

Hi, thank you for the information, but I'm not downloading the game from Origin. I have it installed, but I bought the disc of the expansion pack. Thank you for the link: https://help.ea.com/article/sims-3-on-mac-installation-stuck-at-32-or-34-files-troubleshooting though I can't find ANYWHERE the preferences. I tried to find a solution and it seems I'm not the only one having this exact same problem. Thank you. If you have any clue what else I could try doing, I'd be glad!

    Hi

Is this the first time you have had the game installed on this particular computer? Sometimes old installations can leave files behind and these can conflict with newer installations.

Is there any damage to the disc - any dirt or small scratches that might cause it to fail to be read?

Is your base game patched up to date (1.67)?

If you are installing within the same login as your base game then presumably you already have adminstrator rights on that profile so I can't think of any reason why one expansion should fail to install if the others are OK. So I wonder if it is a physical problem with the disc?
