@JenniferMiley I split your comment into its own thread because it's easier (for me) to track one user at a time with these issues.
It sounds like you could run the base game just fine before you got to Late Night? If so, then you only need to apply the workarounds related to certain packs. First though, run the Super Patch (digital download version) if you haven't already. The launcher doesn't always do a thorough job of patching, and the Super Patch won't hurt.

Four packs (Ambitions, Late Night, Fast Lane, and Outdoor Living) don't install correctly, which is why the unknown error came back after you added LN. The first workaround is easy: create an alias for each pack that doesn't have one in Applications:

The second workaround is to copy files from each affected pack into the folder for your newest pack by the date EA released it. From your description, it sounds like University Life is your newest pack? (It would be, unless you have IP, ITF, or I think Movie Stuff.) So a folder from Late Night needs to be copied into the UL folder, as would folders from Ambitions, Fast Lane, or Outdoor Living, if you installed them.
