blindude I think that's part of the point of the high-rise shells. I'm actually not sure whether there are any restrictions to placing them, as in, whether they'd work on a lot with CFE-related work or a basement or anything else. But you can make at least some changes after the fact. And if you get a message about not being able to, use the restrictbuildbuyinbuildings off cheat (after testingcheatsenabled true).
Of course, that doesn't preserve your existing work, but it's at least a consideration for the future.
