Unable to click items

Hi there,

I am looking for support with fixing an error in my Sims 3. Out of nowhere I am suddenly unable to select certain items such as the bed, shower and floor when playing as one of my sims. This is the first time this has happened and is only happening with the one sim. I have read somethings online and have tried doing the following:

  • Reset the sim
  • Reset the objects
  • Reset the lot
  • Evict the sim
  • Edit town/ evict the household
  • Delete Cache from Sims 3 Folder (Which deleted all installed Custom Content)
  • Downloaded some Nraa's folder
  • Ensured my game is up to date on EA
  • Restarted my laptop
  • Age the sim up
  • Deleted the family/ personal inventory

Nothing I have tried has fixed the issue, please help me :(

  • BethRoseM  Have you tried replacing the items yet?  That would be easy enough to test.

And have you tried moving the household to a different lot?  There might be something bugged about the current lot that's somehow only affecting the one sim.  Houses on stilts are a common problem, although the inability to click items is typically universal, not limited to one sim.

If you downloaded someone's NRaas mods folder, please remove it and create your own folder.  The problem with collections, aside from not giving direct credit to the creators, is that you don't know exactly what's in there or how old the mod versions are.  So I would suggest deleting that folder and creating your own, using these instructions:

    https://www.nraas.net/community/How-To-Install#Blunote00s-Check-List

I don't know what NRaas mods you already use, since it sounds from your reset sim/lot troubleshooting steps you might already have had MasterController in place.  So please let me know what mods you're using, both NRaas and other, once you put aside the folder you downloaded.

Instructions for deleting cache files should specify which files to delete. They are:

    • CASPartCache.package
    • compositorCache.package
    • scriptCache.package
    • simCompositorCache.package
    • socialCache.package

It sounds like you deleted the DCCache folder, which is where content installed through the launcher is stored, merged into bundled files.  The ones that end in .ebc are Store content; .dbc is custom content.  If you can restore these files, your cc should also be restored, although it won't be present in your save anymore if you saved your progress with the cc removed.

    Thank you for the response,

I have attempted replacing the items and moving to a different lot, this did not fix the issue. The folder that I had downloaded is titled "NRaas_MasterController_V135" which I have deleted now.

I just followed the instructions of the link above and deleted those relevant cache files and this did not fix anything either 🙁

  • BethRoseM  I'd still like to know what mods you currently have installed.  And if you haven't already, please install NRaas ErrorTrap, Overwatch, and MasterController, and run an MC reset on the sim in question (NRaas > MC > Advanced > Reset Sim).  This is much more thorough than the resetsim cheat.  And even if you previously did an MC reset, please do it again with ET and OW in place, as they remove corruption and stale data that the save would otherwise collect indefinitely.

If this doesn't help, I can take a look at your save, that is if you're interested.  In that case, zip up the save, upload it to a filesharing site (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.), and either post the link here or send it to me via private message.  Please also list the expansion and stuff packs you have installed as well as the Store worlds, and the world this save takes place in as well if it's a custom world.
