Unable to connect to Ea download manager

I have searched article after article for some kind of solution to my problem and no such luck. Tolerance level for this game is getting pretty low at this point so please try and help the best you can..

I have the sims3 (bought and downloaded under my origin account) and the world adventures/generations pack (bought in the store) installed. All games are registered on my origins account. My origin and my sims.com account are the exact same however they will not connect. I have turned off my firewall because i heard that can block the connection between the two, reinstalled origin and updated it however when I go to update my game I still get the box saying unable to connect to EA download manager.

I'm not really familiar with computers so I have no clue what any is talking about when they mention patches.

My game works okay I just really need this update, so please HELP!

    I'm not entirely sure where you get this error message. Is it in the launcher? In the Origin client?

    the problem is in the loancher, because when you tap to see updates say: *your the sims 3 are updated* when i know not true because i have the sim 3 1.42 and i see in the oficial web the sims 3 are in 1.66
