Unable to log in to Launcher

I've been chatting with the EA Helpdesk all day. They told me to post here because I guess they can't fix it unless i do this.

Using my completely up to date pc to play the Sims 3 worked until yesterday. I have done all of the cache clearing, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, changed my password, changed wifi and firewall settings, and still cannot log in. 

The login is rejected every time I try it, but only on the launcher- i can log in to the sims 3 store and all EA sites. Nothing in my computer changed since yesterday except the things EA told me to do, none of which solved the problem. I cannot access the game I bought years ago and have been playing every day for years and I am deeply frustrated. 

Maybe this will help. I've also done all the things Crincrit posts to do, as well as the stuff other players have suggested because they have the same problem. By the way, did the EA Helpdesk close out YOUR case when they realized they couldn't actually help?

  • witchywomin​  Did you change the password when this stopped working, as in, could a password change have triggered the issue?  Or did you only change it after you couldn't login?

    And among the suggestions, did you specifically clear the cache for Edge's Internet Explorer-mode data?  This is what the launcher uses even if you never use Edge at all.  Did you delete the file labeled [your email].bin in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Downloads?  I would suggest doing both at the same time if you haven't already.

    I have cleared every cache on edge, in the sims files, and no, i did not change my password until the EA Helpdesk told me to. I cannot delete the email bin file because there is nothing in the downloads folder because I can't play the game that would generate said file. 

    I appreciate your suggestions but I have done all of it.

  • I just cleared the Edge cache and still cannot log in to the Launcher.

  • witchywomin​  If your new password includes any special characters, please change it again to remove these, then clear Edge's IE-mode data again and see whether it helps.  I should have mentioned before, the launcher doesn't like special characters, and while that may not have been your original issue, a new password might have something the old one did not.

    Otherwise, please test in a new admin Windows account.  Make it local, as in, not linked to your Microsoft account or any email address.  Give it a simple name, like Test, no special characters or accents.
