witchywomin If your new password includes any special characters, please change it again to remove these, then clear Edge's IE-mode data again and see whether it helps. I should have mentioned before, the launcher doesn't like special characters, and while that may not have been your original issue, a new password might have something the old one did not.
Otherwise, please test in a new admin Windows account. Make it local, as in, not linked to your Microsoft account or any email address. Give it a simple name, like Test, no special characters or accents.
