Used Dragon Valley Code seen as invalid
I bought the Sims 3 Dragon Valley around Christmas at a mall, and the game was used. I just recently tried to install it, but each time I entered the code for it into the launcher it called it invalid..I figure that this is because the game is used and so the code was probably already redeemed before I bought it.

The fact that they were selling the game used is not okay; it's not possible to verify that you can actually USE the code before you buy it used, and not having that new code is detrimental to playing your game. You need the code to be unused currently to even download it to your computer. If that code is already in use for another computer - say, the original owner didn't delete the game thoroughly, or the code is registered to another EA account than the one you're trying to log in from - then you won't be able to use the game at all.
I guess what I'm saying is, is to return that used copy since it doesn't have a useable code. As much as it sucks, you're going to have to demand your money back and explain to them why you can't buy a used copy of the Sims (as the code is invalid). Go buy a new version of the Dragon expac, through Origin (where you won't need a verification key, since it'll be connected to your account), or through a retailer near you.
