When I try to play the SIms 3, the play button is greyed out?

I have taken the disc in and out of the computer, installed the latest version of Origin, etc.  What is a way that I can fix that problem without deleting any gameplay?  It just won't let me click on it at all.   I have an HP Pavilion entertainment PC laptop, if that helps at all.

    First of all, go into your taskmanager and check whether there is already a process running for the game. If so, end the process and try to launch the game again.

    The other thing to try is to right-click on the game icon under 'My Games' and select 'Repair Install' if that option is available.

    This continuously acts back up for me. its very annoying and i dont understand why its happening.  I haven't been able to play for a couple months now

    If you restart your computer and update it, you should be able to play.
