Xcpt file
Hi I was able to play just fine but recently I'm playing about 10 minutes and the game closes, also this file called xcpt has just created the contents is this one: [Exception info] Date: 2021-03-1...
@puzzlezaddict thank you so much for replying! I made a new game and it saves fine, must have been an issue with the old save. Looks like I’ll be saving a lot of sims to the bin...
@mountainlions123 If you use mods or are willing to try, the old save might be salvageable. Let me know if you'd like help with that.
@puzzlezaddict I’m very up for using mods, willing to try anything really! I’d love help, thanks so much
@mountainlions123 Okay, then I'd start by adding NRaas ErrorTrap, Overwatch, and MasterController. The first two run various cleanup routines on their own, without any need for player intervention; MC doesn't do anything unless you use it to issue a command. In case you're not familiar, here's how to install mods:

With the three in place, try running an MC Town Reset: click on City Hall, select NRaas > MasterController > Town Options > Reset Everything. The command can take a few minutes to run, depending on the state of the save and the speed of your hardware. This will also reset your active sims, so be prepared for that; you can disable the reset for the active household in MC settings, but at this point, it's better to be thorough.
Once the town reset has finished, let the game clock run for a few minutes, then try using "save as" to rename the save. If it works, quit, delete the five cache files in your user folder, reload, and see how the save plays going forward. For reference, the cache files are:
If you can't save your progress, or the save doesn't load at all, let me know. There are still a few tricks to try, plus if you get any scripterrors in your Sims 3 user folder, they're worth reading. For those, you'd need to post on the NRaas site, where the mods are still fully supported and people can read the logs; my interpretation skills are rudimentary at best. And just to be clear, you almost certainly will get at least a couple scripterrors, because ET lists the actions it takes, but many of those are just routine cleanup and can be ignored unless your save is displaying symptoms of corruption.
@puzzlezaddict Just tried all the things you recommended (errortrap, resetting town, deleting caches etc) and it works! You're the best!
