I am in the unfortunate position of having to re-connect family trees (which as we know, are already limited to begin with) because there was an issue in my Save File that I was building, so I'm moving the families & their extended families over to a new Save File. I have cas.fulleditmode on by default, due to MCCC. In my previous save, the Goths/Goth Sr./Bachelor/Crumplebottom families were all connected, so I assumed I'd be able to do so again.
In the new Save File, I was able to connect the main Goth family (Mortimer, Bella, Cassandra & Alexander) to Bella's extended family (Simis, Jocasta & Michael) with no problem, and then I split them into 2 separate households. But I've encountered an issue: when I try to connect the Goth Sr. household to the Goths, I do not have the ability to do so. For example, I cannot make Mortimer Gunther's son, nor can I make Gunther Mortimer's father; the only option that comes up is fiance (Please see photos below).
Why was I able to connect Simis & Jocasta (both elders) as Bella's parents, and her children's grandparents, but I cannot connect Gunther & Cornelia (also both elders) as Mortimer's parents, and the grandparents of Cassandra & Alexander?
And why was I able to make Michael Bachelor Bella's brother, and the uncle of Cassandra & Alexander, but now I can't make Agnes & Frida Mortimer's aunts, even though Agnes recognizes Cornelia as her sister, and Frida recognizes Gunther as her brother, because I cannot link Gunther & Cornelia as Mortimer's parents in the first place!
Like I said, cas.fulleditmode is on by default and I don't understand why there is an issue, when everyone was able to be connected in the previous Save File. And I don't understand why I can connect Bella's family without issue, but not Mortimer's family.
If anyone has any insight on how to get the game to cooperate again, please let me know!
Thanks.

Hi @crinrict I have not checked that yet; I didn't know that could be an issue, so I went back and read the previous posts in this merged thread. Seems like it is happening to a lot of people!
So if I understand correctly, I should take the family into live mode, and see if there is a "phantom parent" in the family tree, that is preventing me from connecting Mortimer to his parents and extended family?
If I do find that is what happened to cause the issue, I still don't quite understand how to delete a "phantom parent", generated by the game, so that I can continue connecting them?
Edit: I should add, when I created this brand new save, I did bring the saved family members into the game via my library when I clicked to create a family in the lower right button in the game - I opened CAS & brought them into CAS to edit them.

@AalyahReed Yes, check live mode - family tree
You could try resetting stuff with MCCC but I'm not too familiar with that. There's no other way in getting rid of the phantom parent (good description of what's happening, really like that word) unless you start over in CAS.The easiest way is just
