[ARCHIVED] Reaper's Rewards: Quests Not Completing
Hey all,
Spinning up this thread to track a potential issue we're investigating related to quests for the Reaper's Rewards event not completing when they should.
Please use this thread ONLY if:
You can see the Reaper's Rewards event on the main menu and in game (seen below).
You see quests available to complete.
The quests DO NOT complete when they should.
If the above applies to you, we would like to gather any video you can provide of you completing an objective and not seeing the event progress to proceed with our investigation.
You can get us a video in many ways, please see the thread here for further information on them.
As the Reaper's Rewards event has now ended, this thread has been archived.
Thank you all so much for sharing the information needed to assist the team. Even though some issues weren't able to be resolved by the conclusion of the Reaper's Rewards event, we were able to use that data provided to improve the experience for future events.
As always, we continue to learn and explore how we can provide the best possible experience for all who play The Sims 4, and will use the information in this thread to make decisions on how we can best move forward for future events.
I was able to complete Week 4 (running The Sims 4 on PC without any mods) and was able to complete the first group of tasks for Week 5 but not the second Week 5 tasks group.
@CreatorSS97 I have questions about what happens even if I delete that file and make new Sims, my Sims had a Death Flower, an angelfish and a pomegranate, and their greenhouse had snapdragon/lily/Orchid (no orchid yet) flowers. One of them had a Death Flower I was going to have her plant it but I waited in case that wouldn't count for a future quest. I'm not likely to find a Death Flower in a shop again, or the angel fish at the Potion Shop. I'm not wasting another 2 weeks finding that God forsaken fish. My two Sims fished everywhere I was told to fish and had fishing levels 9 and 10. I would have DM'ed you, but I must have hit the spoiler button because everything was blacked out and when I tried to remove the blackout, I hit the Spoiler button again which made it worse.
So I have to rescue my Sims because they have every ingredient, except the Potion of Youth which they both had enough points for but I was waiting until it was officially a quest task - so beyond my attachment to them, I need them because they had all of the necessary ingredients. There is no way I'd have time to get all of the ingredients again. like I said to the EA.(people, who have EA in their screenname) why have an event for ambrosia when you can get it off the Gallery? And everyone does it and they know that.
Just like photos were the fastest way to make another Sim like your Sim and it took 8 years for them to nerf it. It took them 10 years before they cared to put skill books in every library. The hot tub gift, a hot tub, that's how they thank players for being loyal to the franchise?!
We should have seen this coming...they said this would be fun.
I seriously did not know that I had tutorial quests active, because I had dismissed Emily, the tutorial Sim in the beginning of the save), it was also a want which is the only reason I went to the library I wish I made machinima, it's the perfect true crime. "2 Young Adult went to the library in Willow Creek, Sim City (Throwback, thank you Will Wright, we love you) and they were never seen again." I'm a college trained filmmaker, if I can find a producer, I could get a live action version of this Greenlit. If I never find my Sims again, at least I have an idea. In case any EA people care to actually read this: These Sims had everything they might need to finish the event and did not get to do it. I know I gave links to my save files in an earlier post but I wish they would look at them because they are eating a whole through my Google Drive storage.
Disclaimer: I do not and will not use One Drive. It's not for uploading and downloading files, it is merely a mirror of the files on your PC and if you delete a file in One Drive you are actually deleting it from your PC. Even if it is told to stop backup of certain folders and you exit it, it is still alive via the Quick Access folders in File Explorer. Therefore, it is best to remove all files from the Quick Access folders and put them in a new folder under This PC, uninstall OneDrive and delete your Quick Access folders because it will still try to access and take possession of your Documents folder and because of that, your Sims folders are in jeopardy. Please note that I am still on Windows 10 because some of the programs I need/use don't play well with 11. So your folder structure may be different. DM me if you'd like more info on why OneDrive is a pain that Simmers should avoid and how to kill OneDrive for good, because I found out the hard way.
Kasandra (left) and Alexis (right) when they dated each other. I'm so glad I have screenshots to remember them.
@Trentbaby96303 I am truly glad that the worked for you! However, this thread is for people like myself who had nothing but problems with the event and are truly displeased and want EA held accountable for all of the issues because we are missing out on the rewards. If they are going to have events like this in the future, they need a lot more planning and playtesting before they invite us to do things like this again. All of this could and should have been done by SDX drop and a friendly message. Now, people are missing rewards and Sims and Save Files have been interrupted or corrupted. I don't know if you have been following the thread. Messages about completing the event might make people feel bitter and angry. Many people, myself included, are reconsidering buying the Life & Death pack because of the problems with the event. People that might have been excited about helping Grim, are now saying, "Who cares?" If EA cared they would have done it by SDX Drop because this is exactly what it was designed for - dropping content on the fly! If the event ends and people didn't get rewards and are mad or sad or both, they could say something like, we know everyone did not get the rewards due to technical difficulties but we know that Grim would want you to have them! Many people might be happy and thankful and it would make them feel excited for the new pack. but shelling out $40 USD for a pack after missing rewards is too much for some people. I live in my own place but I'm not well off so I had to ask my Mom for the money. I'd like to give my Mom her money back and invite her out to lunch or something. $40 USD would buy my niece a nice gift for the holidays or I could add it to her college fund. Even though I love this franchise, it will never surpass how much I love her. I think the failure of this event has caused a lot of Simmers to give up playing for a little while or permanently. I think some of us, including myself feel our money is misspent. I thought the money I spent was being used to develop Sims 5 aka Project Renee. Now where is it going? $40 might be the amount a developer works per hour. What does that developer do for that hour? I don't honestly know but it feels like they use only 5 minutes to think of the players and fix bugs. Let's look at some facts:
It took them 8 years to realize that a Sim taking pictures should not make them automatically popular
10 years to figure out that they should put skill books in all libraries, not just in Willow Creek
They made a very ugly hot tub for an anniversary
They did not even acknowledge the game's 10th anniversary
When Wedding Stories came out it was all but unplayable and they have a no refunds policy on DLC
Same with High School Years - Your teen's grade would not go up unless you send them alone on exam days - I still don't think that's fixed
If you're not James Turner, Journey to Batuu was an example of how not to do a crossover.
The Detective Career is still broken
10 years no cars
"Inclusivity" without wheelchairs, or crutches or walkers
Mermaids are an afterthought
They use movie magic to make trailers so a pack looks cooler than its actual gameplay
The Creator Network is used as advertising by giving them packs early while we pay $40 and no one can break in because you have to have X amount of Followers. Are they even letting anyone in anymore?
They let the Creator Network build or make content for new packs - I was going to suggest a contest should be held but they might play favorites there too.
When anyone speaks out on the forums we get sanctioned or banned.
I don't think you meant any harm and I don't mean to come down hard on you, it just comes down to wrong place wrong time so just be aware of what thread you are posting to. We are upset due to one weird mechanic in life: FOMO, Fear of Missing Out. We missed out on rewards due to a buggy event that leads up to taking $40 of someone's hard earned money, in this case, my Mom's and that makes me among others upset. I spent my birthday money on High School Years's Pre-order and if you don't pre-order you miss out on more items. I should know better as I took Advertising in college. I let my love of this game cloud my good judgement.
Let me just say again that I am really happy for you as you are one of the first people I have seen or talked to that has finished it, so congratulations!
@PurpleSweetTartChill. This isn't the place to rant. If you don't want to help others, then at least don't to get in the way of others troubleshooting.

I got this bug today (and many others that I needed to do workarounds; but this one in this post I couldn't fix): my whole The Sims 4 folder is shared with the EA / Maxis team already: @EA_Cade, do you need me to send the links to my Google Drive / The Sims 4 folder with all the files again, or can you still see the old message? It had been sent to TheSimsDirect; the message title was "The Sims 4 folder for [LS] Bloated save file with size of 80 MB and others". It has the link to all my Sims 4 files and saves.
I am in the final quest and I went to the bar on ghost night (weds) but the quest is not completing for me. It says feeding a ghost is optional and I no longer have the ambrosia. What do I need to do to get it completed to get the rest of the rewards?
@PurpleSweetTart Hi again, I don’t have my computer with me right now and I’m not an EA responsible, but I’ll try to check your save file when I get home. I understand it can be frustrating to let your save file go, but I don’t think it’s necessary. If nothing works and you find yourself having to delete your save file, you can save your current sims to your library or upload them to the gallery to at least keep their relationship and sentiments/milestones (I don’t know if uploading or saving them deletes the milestones though). For their inventory, it will take time but you can create a room and put all their items there (just like how some people share the collections in a room) and save/upload that room or lot to the gallery. Again I am not sure if this will save your whole progress, but it might at least let you keep your sims and their inventory. I don’t know if we can send a direct message (or how we can send dm’s) to members in this forum, but you can try to contact me through EA app as well. Like I said, I’ll try to look at your save files and try to go through the event (but I’m not sure as my event progress and tasks are now probably different than yours) when I get home.
I can’t complete Week 6 to get the last of the rewards. I don’t even have the quest showing up. I’ve deleted files recommended; I’ve created a new family… nothing. Very frustrating.
