In tonight's game I had the litter box issue after I cooked pet food. One of my cats, I have 2 adult males in this game, couldn't use the litter box after eating his food. I went into build mode, deleted the litter boxes and bought new ones. He still couldn't use the litter box so I quit to desktop and restarted my game. He was able to use the litter box after a few seconds of loading my game. I had both kinds of the self cleaning litter boxes, one of each litter box. Now I only have the non laser self cleaning litter boxes on the lot. I have 2 litter boxes, one inside the bathroom and one outside the bathroom. The self cleaning litter boxes on the lot now are the one that rakes the litter. Sorry I don't know the name of it. I've never used the covered litter box, I'm not sure how to know when it's dirty and needs cleaning. I do the visual ones that you can see when they need cleaning.
No freezes have happened in this game so far.
ETA. In this game my cats haven't left the lot. They go out front to check the mail box that's on the porch but they haven't left the lot. And I'm playing in Windinburg sp? on the 20X20 lot on the island. They sometimes will go down the stairs and check out the cat bush that I have in the front of the stairs. It's a single story house on a foundation.

@crinrictThe one thing that's been constant through all the litter box issue is the cat has been a Tuxedo breed. In my currant game I have a Japanese bobcat and a Tuxedo. It was the tuxedo that had the issue with the litter box. I could be wrong that the Tuxedo breed is the issue but it's been the breed that has had the issue in my games.

I've had this issue ever since the expansion pack came out and I don't know if it's in a progress of being fixed soon or not, so I would like to report it anyways. So the problem happen to appear every time the cat wants to use the litter box- the cat icon becomes red and when my sim asks ''What's wrong?" it says: "(cat's name) would like a nice, clean litter box" but the cat just won't use it. Every time she wants to use the litter box, I have to go to the build mode, delete the old box and place the new one right infront of her.>
Steps I took for Issue to occur:
< Right after I added a cat to the household, I've placed the litter box on the second floor of the house in the sim's washroom and my sim's cat went there and used it for the very first time and right after that the bug started to appear. So I've checked the forums and decided to try few things to fix the issue. I've tried changing different types of litter boxes, I've tried calling the cat in the same room where the letter box was - but it didn't work. I've tried placing the litter box on the first floor washroom and also just placing it on the first floor (open space) living room in case, for some reason, the cat just didn't know the location of the litter box, unless it is literally in her field of view - but non of these actions helped.
Where does the bug occur?
<I tried to start a new game for the testing purposes, but it seems to just happen in any game I play. I've tried to repair the game - didn't help. Seems like the only thing that works, is to replace the box every time she wants to use it and put it RIGHT infront of her (which is obviously, extremely annoying)>

<The problem occurred when I added a cat to the household for the very first time, after about 2 weeks after the "Cats&Dogs" expansion pack was released (not sure if there were any new patches at that time, if there were I definitely updated the game. I play on Mac. >
