[OPEN] [CHEATS] Counters cannot be resized
Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 10.5.101.48500 - 769396
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Cats &Dogs; Dream Home Decorator; City Living; Get to Work; Get Together; Courtyard Oasis; Country Kitchen Kit; Bust the Dust Kit; Island Living; Seasons; Paranormal Stuff Pack; Parenthood; Snowy Escape; Spa Day; Realm of Magic; Romantic Garden Stuff; Tiny Living; Toddler Stuff; Holiday Celebration Pack; Jungle Adventure; Laundry Day Stuff; My First Pet Stuff; Outdoor Retreat; Vampires; Vintage Glamour Stuff... (not sure what else bc the whole list doesn’t come up on Origin, but that’s most of it - and I’ve uninstalled and repaired my game and reinstalled one by one and rebooted my game completely in between to check if the issue resolved - nope!)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Open a new game in Sims 4 and select a property to build on. Press Ctrl+Shift+C on your English language version keyboard to bring up the command text bar and enter bb.moveobjects. Go into build mode and select any counter (lower *counter*, not top cabinet). Purchase it. Using the squared brackets [ ] attempt to resize the counter smaller or larger. Notice the sizing of the green directional footprint at the bottom. Now place the counter. Now select it and try to resize it, again.
What happens when the bug occurs? The counter does not resize. Prior to placing the counter for the first time in build mode, (immediately after purchasing it) the green directional footprint beneath the counter object will resize, while the object remains the same size. After placement, attempts to resize will result in dropping/placing the counter object and the green footprint will no longer change in size, either. Using Shift+brackets will not resize the counter. Island counters may not be affected. Cabinets (upper) are not affected by this behavior and neither are other objects or groups of objects that I’ve attempted to resize. Seems to be an issue with an update.
What do you expect to see? When I enter the cheat/command code bb.moveobjects and use brackets [ ] while selecting/holding an object I expect it to resize larger or smaller depending upon which bracket I press (left to decrease in size and right to increase)
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
Wondering why it seems like everyone is not having this problem? How often do you resize your counters? Try it please and check the box if your game does this, too!! If it’s a glitch I only want them to please patch it in the next update. For that, I need a little help being the squeaky wheel that gets the grease!
I bought several packs and updated my game. I also added one mod. I added these all at around the same time. I don’t recall the last time I tried to resize a counter, so I don’t know when this bug first occurred.
I did remove everything and repair my game, then added everything back one at a time while exiting fully and rebooting the game and restarting it to check that if it was fixed.
Nothing worked, in any order of adding packs etc aside from taking my game to an earlier version - pre-updates from awhile ago. The only previous version I had was prior to the last two or three updates, so I believe this is due to an update, but I am not sure which one. I did research online - there are no help threads that I could find about this on EA, although others experience the issue. In other forum/social media comments, people have suggested this is a bug due to the update that was released at the time of the Dream Home Decorator extension release. Thankful to the community here - from the bottom of my heart ♥️ and I really appreciate any feedback and help EA can give!!
Really just want to make a double curving/spiral staircase that’s functional - counters are the only objects that work for so many other build tricks and things!
As far as the mod, if anyone is questioning it: (or just skip this if not)
I did remove it from my game and disable all mods/scripteds alternately as I was troubleshooting. As for this mod: It has been popular and tested by major GC creators and others for quite some time, created by a reputable and popular, experienced source. The other people who are using the mod never related any issues to it. I researched and I personally contacted the creator to ask if there had been any feedback about similar issues. They immediately responded that they had not, that it was not related to their mod and, it was a bug they’d also experienced and heard was related to the update from around the DHD release, (Leaving out their name/the mod name as they don’t deserve to hold any negative liability for simple, speculative feedback). Anyway, *^sigh^* help? Smh
Thank you!
