@EgonVMThey also appear restricted to packs even some base game deaths are restricted to packs (you need werewolves for meteor, and the recently made base game due to happy at home and high school years death by vending machine requires snowy escape) Also meteor is one of the child deaths as well.
Oh wow, I took a look into the Update Announcement video (which used only base game and Vampires), I noticed that yeah, Death by Meteor and Death by Vending Machine are missing.
Didn't notice these before. Nice catch!
Meteor being one of child deaths too... Interesting... I didn't have it happen when I tested it out (used telescope, got the warning, let the moodlet expire, nothing happened), but seeing as others say it has happened, I'll guess that Meteor is indeed one of the ways children can die by.

@EgonVM The death types are only restricted to occults in CAS, I cheated a mermaid to be death by drowning and it worked! But I agree these unnecessary restrictions were an oversight.
Interesting... It seems like then that the occult part in the tuning files tell which occult it can appear to in CAS... So occults that died by a "wrong death" won't be affected then...
The ghost traits use the same filter now that the other traits do. While this does prevent them from appearing in CAS, this also prevents the game from even equipping the trait, through gameplay or through cheats.
I only see one true solution here: introduce a new filter that only filters out ages in CAS, and remove the current age filter, making the ghost traits universal again and preventing quirky issues like this from happening.
Plus, there are still more weirdness in CAS. Teens have emotional deaths available, even though they can't die by emotions, Cringe sims cannot die by laughter, yet you can create Cringe laughter ghost etc...
Do it like The Sims 3 did: have every death available to every age and restrict those two occult-only deaths to those occults.
