My game was just recently updated within the last week (September 2024). Everything has been working fine, until yesterday. I tried to add cabinets to my kitchen build and now, every single time, my game crashes. I saw users on other threads advise to move the EA folder to the desktop and try running a new game. I did that and build mode worked fine. No crashing. I couldn't find information on what to do after trying that and the game working fine, so I moved the folder back into my "Documents" folder, where it was originally. It's pretty frustrating because I'm on my 6th generation and don't want to start all over, but I'd like to finish my kitchen and cannot. The game works fine if I don't build, but that takes away the fun of the game and doesn't allow me to make customizations based on family changes.
I also don't have any cheat codes or mods. The only add-ons I have on the game are: Seasons, the Holiday Celebration pack, and Cool Kitchen Stuff.

@SimRellEsq Does the game crash if you don't add those specific cabinets, or cabinets in general? You can revert to an older save if building is impossible in the current version.

It's all kitchen cabinets. My game continued to crash but I was able to build a greenhouse for my plants - no problem. So I thought the issue was fixed. Then I decided to go to manage worlds and turn one of my old properties into a vacation rental. I demolished the lot and was able to build all of the rooms like normal. I was able to put counters in my kitchen, but as soon as I tried to put cabinets on the wall, the game froze, glitched, then crashed. I'm pretty sure I just lost all of the work I did, but at least it didn't impact a family.
So, something is up with the cabinets. I don't know how to isolate or rectify that. Have you ever encountered this?

@SimRellEsq I haven't encountered this, but I also haven't looked into build-related crashes after this patch. I'll ask around.
But to be clear, can you place kitchen cabinets in a clean Sims 4 folder? You said initially that build mode worked fine in a new folder, but I want to make sure you tested the cabinets specifically. If that does work, try copying one of your existing saves to the new folder and placing cabinets again.
Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

I am having the same issue, but with the Book Nook bookcases. I am wondering if the issue doesn't relate to things that attach to walls? I did the 50/50 method with mods and got it to work in another household, but when I returned to my main family, the problem returned. Not sure what is going on, but thought I would share that I am having a related problem to provide more information for @puzzlezaddict and @crinrict
Update: It also happened when I tried to place a Dream Home Decorator modular dresser wall unit.
